Emma Farr & Luke Platt
May 25, 2024 | Botanical Garden of the Ozarks in Fayetteville | Kati Mallory Fine Art Photography
Emma and Luke met during the height of the pandemic when he moved in next door to her. They ended up spending most of the lockdown together. After a year of dating, the two bought a house together and have been happily attached at the hip ever since.
Luke proposed on Kiawah Beach in South Carolina while they were visiting his family. She told him prior to the engagement that she wanted to be totally surprised, so he jumped at the first opportunity to get down on one knee and ask her to marry him.
Emma was so indecisive about a ring that Luke proposed with a faux ring so they could pick one out together. When the time came, she selected a ring almost exactly like the one he proposed to her with!
“We had a trip to Europe planned for the week after, so I definitely thought it would happen on that trip,” Emma said. “[I] was very surprised that it happened before.”

Q&A
Q: Tell us about the color palette!
A: “I chose green and white as my main color palette since we were getting married outside in a garden,” Emma said. “I just wanted it to be very natural looking. We also had small pops of blue which helped tie in some European elements that I loved!”
Q: As a wedding photographer, what was one thing that didn’t surprise you about the wedding planning process?
A: “I knew what it took to make a wedding look nice and what you could skimp on if needed and I think that helped me create such a beautiful day,” Emma said. “I was surprised with how fast the reception portion of the day goes, I feel like I was at my reception for 30 minutes before it ended…it just flew by!”
Q: Is there a personalized detail that you want us to share about the day?
A: “The two sentimental items I chose to include on my wedding day were two rings,” Emma said “One was my mothers (previously my grandmothers) and will someday be mine whenever she decides to hand it down, and the other was my grandfather’s wedding ring, who has passed away. Having a small part of him at my wedding meant everything to me.”
Don’t Rain On Her Parade (Or Do!)
“It started pouring rain around 9 PM at our all-outdoor reception, which forced everyone under the small tent we had up,” Emma said. “It was just so fun. It felt more casual and everyone was closer and chatty.”
European Inspiration
“Ideally I would’ve loved to get married in Europe but we wanted our friends and family to be there with us,” Emma said. “So we brought the European feel to Arkansas!”
