Kacie Jenkins & Sage Riggs
August 10, 2024 | Osage House in Cave Springs | Miles Witt Boyer
Kacie and Sage met during their junior year at Ole Miss when Sage was looking for a date to a fraternity formal in New Orleans.
“Sage has always claimed that he knew I was the one after we spent our first weekend together in New Orleans,” Kacie said. “He says that he had his eyes on me for years but was just waiting for me to become single to make his move.”
After being together for six years, Kacie was very ready to get engaged. “Every trip we were going on, I was sure was ‘the one,’” Kacie said.
During a trip to California to see Sage’s family, Kacie and Sage went to dinner at Terranea Resort. Before sitting down, Sage suggested they walk down to the beach, where he got down on one knee.
“Moments later, I realized there was a photographer hidden, and I was so happy to know that we would have pictures of this moment forever,” Kacie said. “We started taking some couple photos, and the photographer instructed us to turn around. When we turned around, both sets of our parents were coming down the hill. … It meant the world to me that Sage made sure my family was there all the way from Arkansas.”

Q&A
Q: What was your vision for your wedding day?
A: “Throughout college, I worked for an event rental company and worked on many, many weddings,” Kacie said. “… Anything that could be personalized was [a] top priority for me. I was really inspired by “garden party” vibes, but at the same time keeping things very classic and timeless. I knew I wanted lots of color, so from the beginning, I was set on having very colorful florals to bring the perfectly blank canvas of Osage House to life.”
Q: What inspired your wedding look?
A: “… I originally saw [my] dress on Instagram and knew that no matter what, I literally had to at least try it on,” Kacie said. ”I practically hunted it down and found a bridal shop in Kansas City that carried the dress. I booked flights and headed to KC immediately. I made myself try on 20 other dresses before I even put this one on because I just knew it would be game over the second I saw myself in it, and I was absolutely right – it was a no-brainer.”
Q: What must-have of the wedding day did you know you just had to have?
A: “… Amanda Reed. Need I say more?” Kacie said. “[Another was the] Chevron Station. Because Sage and I both graduated from Ole Miss, it was very important for us to have a lot of little nods to our alma mater. In Oxford, there is a Chevron gas station on the corner of the Square that has a hot bar, most famously known for ‘Chicken on a Stick’. Whenever the bars close, everyone heads to the Chevron for late-night food. I knew this would be the cutest, most perfect way to incorporate Oxford into our wedding and it was such a hit. [Lastly was] Silks-A-Bloom. For me, flowers are everything. … I was committed to having florals explode from the jump, but more specifically I became committed to the floral spiral over the dance floor over anything else.”
Q: Tell us about your color palette.
A: “I knew I wanted to have a bright and colorful wedding, but at the same time I wanted to still love what I had chosen 10 years down the road,” Kacei said. “I knew that purple was a must — I am a purple girl through and through — but the accent colors were up in the air in the beginning. I spent hours on Pinterest looking at color combinations when I finally came across a photo that was a lavender, peach, pale yellow, pale pink … and I knew right then that was what we had to go with.”
Q: What was your favorite moment of the day?
A: “… When Sage and I read our personal vows to each other,” Kacie said. “We did a first look, and after that, we went into the chapel and shared our vow books with each other. This was about an hour before the ceremony started, and it was the perfect way to remind us the real reason why we were there. The day in itself can be a lot – its easy to get caught up in the party and the details,… [but] us having this special moment together before we had our ceremony was the best way to bring it back to us committing to spend the rest of our lives together and why we love each other so much.”
Q: What personalization did you love the most?
A: “My favorite detail from the day has to be the Chevron Station,” Kacie said. “… [This was] such a fun nod to Ole Miss that everyone was obsessed with. Again, I think the attention to detail really made everything feel over the top, and the guests absolutely ate it up (literally).”
Q: What advice do you have for couples planning their own weddings right now?
A: “Spend the money on a good planner!” Kacie said. “I seriously have said this to every single person I have talked to. The lack of stress that I felt throughout the entire planning process was worth every penny times a million. … Amanda Reed is the absolute best in the business and everyone who attended the rehearsal dinner, welcome party [and] wedding could feel it. … I am obsessed with the details, and having a planner who shares that sentiment truly made all my dreams come true.”
Late-Night Snack
At the reception, Kacie and Sage staged their own Chevron station as a nod to their alma mater, Ole Miss. “My favorite detail… everyone was obsessed with [it,]” she said.
Private Vows
About an hour before the ceremony, Kacie and Sage had a private moment to read their vows to each other. “… It was the perfect way to remind us of the real reason why we were there. The day in itself can be a lot – it’s easy to get caught up in the party and the details, [but] us having this special moment together before we had our ceremony was the best way to bring it back to us committing to spend the rest of our lives together, and why we love each other so much.”
