Vendors We Love: 3 Things You Didn’t Know About The Chancellor Hotel

On the beautiful square of downtown Fayetteville, The Chancellor Hotel, 70 North East Ave., Fayetteville, has become a place to be seen for out-of-towners and townies, alike.

And it’s not just a place to stay for a U of A football game, concert or local festival or even to just get grub or a drink– it’s a super hot spot for wedding receptions.

Just ask Shellie Morrison of The Event Group, The Chancellor Hotel’s fantastic catering company that helps create one-of-a-kind special occasions at the chic boutique hotel. For her, it’s all about creating a worry-free and perfect event for couples.

“We enjoy making each bride’s vision come to life,” she said. “Everyone has a unique event, and we like to implement the bride’s wishes and let she and her family be a guest at their own event. We take the worries away.”

In addition to a 14,000 square feet of event space, well-appointed guest rooms and one- and two-bedroom suites at The Chancellor Hotel offer comfort and style for every member of your group. Amenities like indoor/outdoor swimming pool, on-site dining at Union Kitchen + Drinks and a state-of-the-art fitness facility make your wedding party’s stay even more enjoyable.

We were able to chat with Morrison and she gave us the lowdown on how her group got into wedding planning and what you can really expect at the hotel:

  1. The group originally started planning corporate events but kept receiving requests for wedding planning.  Eventually, they saw the need for additional catering services in the area.  Now, The Event Group offers off-site catering, an on-site catering location at The Chancellor Hotel and a wedding planning division.
  2. The hotel has been totally re-designed and refurbished into a boutique hotel. The suites are beautiful and there is ample meeting space for receptions and rehearsal dinners.
  3. Having an event at The Chancellor already includes many amenities that couples traditionally have to rent or purchase (china, silverware, glassware, linens, tables and chairs and more).

Also, see how she answered our very special vendor Q&A:

Rustic or ultra-luxe? Definitely ultra-luxe. Rustic and vintage has been very popular for the past three years, so we are ready for a change to a more elegant and streamlined look.

One piece of advice that you give brides when it comes to planning their wedding: Take our advice.  We have more 15 years of experience in what works well and what will give your guests a wonderful experience while still making your event unique and fabulous.

Favorite bridal moment? This is a tough one—we have so many wonderful brides and memories.  From funny to serious and everything in between.  I would say the most touching was when one of our brides had lost her father and instead of the father-daughter dance, they shone a spotlight on the dance floor and played a favorite song in his memory. There was total silence in the room and not a dry eye.

What’s your favorite wedding theme this season? Rather than a particular theme, I like when brides take a color, concept or image and carry it throughout the day from their invitations and cake to their wedding dress and reception décor. I’m especially loving interesting black glass containers, jewels and various shades of blue and purple that are popular this year.
