If you’re an eco-conscious bride, you’ll probably want to make sure your wedding has as little impact on the environment as possible. Or maybe you care about the local economy, or you want to add more sentiment to your wedding by keeping things local. Whatever your reasons, check out these ideas for keeping things in the neighborhood.
The Venue
First off, pick a place nearby. Wherever you are in Arkansas, you’ll be able to find a venue. If you don’t find an indoor space you like, consider taking your party outdoors to one of Arkansas’ many beautiful places. Check out our vendor list to see our favorite venues.
The Food
Now that you have a place to go, you’ll have people to feed. Pick a local catering service (there might even be one attached to your venue!) and talk to them about your needs and your desire to serve local food. Or go for the major party food groups: meat, cheese and booze. Petit Jean is famous for its meats, while Kent Walker Artisan Cheese is located in downtown Little Rock. For the alcohol, go to one of Little Rock’s several breweries or nearby wineries, or talk to Rock Town Distillery.
The Entertainment
No need to fly in a DJ from Dallas. You can find quality entertainment right here in Central Arkansas, and in the rest of the state. Whether you’re looking for a DJ, a small band or an orchestra, you’ll find plenty of local options. (Psst: Check out this guide to find your favorite bands and entertainment!)
The Flowers
Talk to your chosen florist about using blooms from the area. You’ll probably pay less because they won’t have to be shipped in (score!). Want to do it yourself? Consider using wildflowers or ask a friend with a (really big) garden if you can have some blooms. If you’re not sure where to start, we have a list of florists from The Natural State.
