Sarah and Wesley are college sweethearts! They met at a mutual friend’s surprise birthday party. The two remained acquaintances until Wesley asked her to be his date to a spring formal. That night was the start of their real friendship, which gradually turned into a romantic relationship.
“It didn’t take long for me to know for sure that Wesley was the one for me,” Sarah said. “He was my first and only boyfriend, so about three months into dating I had no doubt that we would spend the rest of our lives together. I had waited my whole life for him!”
Sarah’s custom-made ring was inspired by Psalm 45, their wedding song. Wesley planning for Sarah and her family to visit Texas, where he planned on proposing to her. He took Sarah to one of their favorite spots, a secluded cabin with a deck overlooking a gorgeous lake, and got down on one knee.
“Sarah’s jaw dropped,” Wesley said. “She immediately said yes to forever and remained in shock the rest of the evening. We walked back to the large dining hall and had a grand entrance to the surprise celebration with over a hundred gathered from our families and closest friends. It was a day to remember forever.”

Q&A
Q: What was your vision for your wedding day?
A: “I wanted the day to feel unique, classy, timeless and fun,” Alden said.” I sent my sister-in-law everything I loved, and she helped shape my vision into something cohesive. My planner, Gretchen, was amazing and took it from there, giving the day a creative and personal touch that felt exactly right.”
Q: Is there a personalized detail you’d like to share?
Sarah: “My favorite moment of the day was the private dinner Wesley and I shared in between the ceremony and reception. We were able to catch up, talk about the ceremony and just relish in our first few minutes of being husband and wife! It was a very special moment with just each other that I am SO glad we decided to do.”
Wesley: “When my bride walked down the aisle and I got to see her in her beautiful gown. It was the most gorgeous sight I have ever seen. We chose not to do a first look, and seeing her for the first time at the beginning of the ceremony sent me to tears.
Q: What was your favorite moment of the day?
A: “I wanted it to be classic and elegant with a little bit of fairytale romance,” Sarah said. “In my vision, I saw extravagant flower pieces, chinoiserie vases, and a good mix of greenery. I was very inspired by chinoiserie vases and [wanted to use] them as table pieces and decor. It took months to collect them, but it was so worth it!”
Like a Fairy Tale
Sarah was inspired by “Cinderella” for her wedding day look. She always knew she wanted to wear a ballgown for her big day.
“I wanted [my dress] to reflect our wedding style, which was elegant and timeless,” Sarah said. “When I tried on my wedding gown, we all knew it was the one.”
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pearls
Sarah and her sisters have a long-standing tradition of passing down a pearl bracelet to one another on their wedding days.
“My older sister helped me put on the bracelet on my wedding day, and when my next sister gets married, I will pass it on to her,” Sarah said.
