Real Wedding: Anna Magness & Lucas Wood

Anna Magness & Lucas Wood

September 21, 2024 | The Loft at Stone Oak in Greenwood | Bethany Grace Photography

Anna and Lucas became best friends in the seventh grade and realized quickly they were meant to be something more. It wasn’t until ninth grade that they decided to make their romantic relationship official.

“Even back in ninth grade, I knew I wanted to marry him—and as the years went by, that feeling only grew stronger,” Anna said.

Looking back, Anna feels incredibly lucky to have met the love of her life when she was a kid. The two have been best friends since they were teenagers, and she looks back on those early days fondly.

“Looking back, it’s amazing to think that the person I met as a kid would become my lifelong partner,” Anna said. “Our story has been full of love, growth, and so many memories. He truly is my best friend, and we have so much fun together.”

Q&A

Q: What was the vibe you wanted for your wedding?

A: “For my wedding vibe, I wanted it to feel Southern, timeless, charming and creative,” Anna said. “I also got a little inspiration from influencer Morgan Massarelli.”

Q: What inspired your florals?

A: “When planning the florals, I used these words to guide me: soft, effortless, textured, bunched, backyard, and airy yet full,” Anna said. “I wanted the bridesmaids’ flowers to feel like they had just been picked fresh from the garden. My color scheme consisted of pinks and greens. I shared all my inspiration with my planner, Samantha, and she truly brought my vision to life.”

Q: What moment of the day do you wish you could relive over and over again?

A: “I wish I could relive our dance floor moments over and over again,” Anna said. “All of our first dances were so special. We took dance lessons leading up to the wedding, and getting to ‘perform’ was an absolute blast. And the dance floor party—our DJ kept the energy electric all night long!”

Fern-filled Fairytale

“My parents and I bought 30 large ferns,” Anna said. “We kept them alive until the end of September and lined our entire walkway up to the ceremony chairs.”

First Dance Magic

“My dad and I danced to a song we used to sing together in the car when I was growing up— ‘Come Sail Away’ by Styx,” Anna said. “Lucas and I also shared a private last dance to a song we had been singing along to together since 10th grade.”
