Even though both Jessica and Brandon graduated from the University of Arkansas, they didn’t meet each other until about two years later. The duo happened to be in downtown Little Rock with friends on the same night, Jessica for her birthday and Brandon as a new guy in town. A mutual friend introduced them, and the sparks flew. Brandon asked her to go sailing with him the very next day on Lake Maumelle, and, two years later, he proposed on that very same sailboat.
Bride’s Inspiration
“I wanted [my wedding] to be organic, vintage and elegant. The color scheme was simple—ivory and champagne.”
How They Customized
“I wanted to include fall elements without fall colors, so we used lanterns, reindeer moss, silver brunia berries, scattered white pumpkins and even pumpkin flavored cake—my favorite!”
She used vintage skeleton keys on each bouquet to symbolize Jessica’s college sorority—an idea her sister Brittany had. And, they created a custom wine bottle signing table to serve as their guest book. The newlyweds will see the guests’ notes when they break out bottles on marriage milestones in the coming years (first anniversary, first home, etc.).
Ways They Saved
Jessica’s sisters, Brittany and Kandace, both pitched in their talents to create things for the couple. For example, Brittany painted the aisle runner for the ceremony and later used it to make a headboard for the bride and groom’s newlywed abode. Kandace designed the decorative signs featured on special tables at the reception.
What detail truly made the wedding yours?
“We displayed pictures in front of the groom’s cheesecake tower (Brandon’s favorite dessert) of each of us from when we were little kids. I was playing dress-up in a wedding gown and veil that my great-grandma gave me and Brandon in a tux and his signature cowboy boots. I think he still looks pretty cute in cowboy boots, so I got him a brand new pair to wear on our big day!”
