We are thrilled to share the pictures from our most recent cover model‘s wedding! She starred on the cover of our Spring/Summer 2012 issue (you can get one here) and truly made it one of our favorite fashion shoots ever with her sprakling personality and dazzling looks. We hope you enjoy reading about her big day – and viewing her pictures!
Even though Kori and Neal and were friends in college, it wasn’t until Neal was getting ready to leave for Pensacola, Fla., for the Air Force that they started dating. They had a long distance relationship until after Kori graduated from college. She moved to Florida the very next day to be with him! Eric proposed in Pensacola andthe couple moved to Little Rock in July 2011. (They’re currently moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico because Neal was transferred by the Airforce).
Personal Touch
“Neither one us likes cake very much so instead of a traditional wedding cake, we decided to have a dessert bar. We ended up having three small cakes; white, chocolate, and apple, lots of cookies, doughnut holes, buckeyes, white chocolate trail mix and Oreo balls. Not only did it taste amazing, it was so pretty too! The guests loved it!”
How They Saved
Kori’s sister is a graphic designer and a wedding photographer on the side. She created all of the printed goods and was the main photographer — all while being the maid of honor! Neal’s sister is a baker and cake decorator and made everything on the dessert bar. The bride’s dad is an electrician and was able to purchase the colored lighting from a local supplier and installed them himself. The flowers, including the silver dollars, were from Kori’s grandmother’s garden. The groomsmen were able to save money by buying suits from Kohl’s (when they were on sale) instead of renting.
What detail truly made the wedding yours?
“The one detail was the airplane/military theme. We used paper airplanes for props, decorations, even on our programs and invitations. For our favors, we made a donation to the Air Force Aid Society and had that printed on paper airplanes on the tables. We also had a vintage toy wooden airplane which hung over the dance floor. We were lucky enough to gain access to an antique airplane hangar at the local airport where we took photos of the bridal party with the bride & groom following the ceremony. The most special detail was the Saber Arch ceremony, right after we were announced as husband & wife. Neal’s Air Force buddies were kind enough to make the trip for us and participate in the Saber Arch. Most of the guests had never seen this before and were very impressed!”
Timeless Moment
Neal and his groomsmen particularly had a lot of fun. They disappeared from the reception for a while and when they returned, they were all sporting mohawks! The beautiful bride said. “It was hilarious and definitely a highlight of the night.”
The Details
Kori and Neal used vendors from out of state.
