Let’s face it, ladies. Most grooms could care less about wedding planning. They want to show up and do what they’re told, enjoying pressure-free months during the time before your big day. There are some grooms out there, however, who do give a damn – that’s right, I said it. They care. They want to contribute. They may even have ideas! (Wow, I know, right?!)
We’re not faulting those who don’t or don’t want to, because, if we’re being honest, us brides would rather make all the desicions anyway. Just so so long as the boys feign interest, we’re happy. Am I right?
The Book
But for those grooms who do want to contribute, there’s this new book, “A Gentleman Walks Down the Aisle,” by John Bridges and Bryan Curtis, that can be a handy soon-to-be-husband guide to bridegroom etiquette and much more.
Portions of the book we found to be particularly beneficial to brides include: An outline of what the groom/groom’s family traditionally pays for (you may be surprised how much they’re supposed to contribute), a neat anniversary gift chart, tuxedo/suit choice diagrams, a groom-specific wedding-day timeline, and much more.
The book is written not only for grooms but also to fathers of the bride, fathers of the groom, best men, groomsmen, ushers, and the like.
