Collegiate Luncheon

VENUE: Campus weddings are best in summer when students are gone and parking is plentiful. If you don’t want to bring in a tent and all of the stuff to go with it, consider an indoor space on campus. $750
RENTALS: Because it’s an afternoon event, the natural light illuminating the campus grounds or indoor venue should work perfect. If you choose to rent lighting though, save by picking up and installing the uplights yourself. And cut down on rental costs even more by using a venue that includes tables and chairs in its fee already. Use the money you save on fun tablecloths in your favorite collegiate colors. $975
DÉCOR: You could always go with a game-day theme, but don’t be afraid to change it up. Since you’re on campus, embrace the academic look. Gather old books and photos of the bride and groom when they were in school. Yearbooks and pennants can be a fun touch. Use the school’s colors to tie it all together. $500
FOOD: Try doing stations of your game-day favorites. Nobody wants to go through a boring buffet line. Try sliders and fries, nachos, hot wings and Ramen noodles with gourmet toppings. Rent an ice cream cart for dessert. $5,000
DRINK: Since it’s the middle of the day, guests won’t expect a full bar. That means less money for you. Signature cocktails can be a fun touch. Pick two or three of your current favorite drinks – or college favorites – and then rename them! Write the names and ingredients on a chalk board and put it at the bar. Instead of renting glasses, serve drinks in plastic cups with your school’s logo or your monogram. $800
MUSIC: Students in the college orchestra or band can provide music for little money and will be happy to have the extra cash. Put the school song on your play list. (If you’re a Razorback, call the Hogs!) $400
TOTAL: $8,425
