After planning and booking so many things so fast during the wedding process, I needed a break. When my friends asked me if I wanted to take a weekend trip to Las Vegas, I couldn’t say no.
Don’t get me wrong, I love wedding planning, and I wasn’t stressed, I just wanted a weekend away with my friends. We did as much as we possibly could while we were there. We went sightseeing, ate LOTS of food including at Emeril Lagasse’s restaurant (I took a break from Weight Watchers) and even went sky diving! Sky diving was one of the most exhilarating experiences I’ve ever encountered. I guess you could say it was on my list of “crazy things to do before I get married” and I’m SO glad I went!
One morning, my friends and I went to the Bellagio for breakfast and a shopping trip and I found a little something at Chanel (you’ll just have to wait and see what it is) to go with my dream wedding dress! I had to snap a picture outside of the store to document the moment.
I had such an AMAZING time on my trip, and I highly recommend that every bride take a break to avoid being stressed out and overwhelmed.
Since my hiatus helped me to come back refreshed and ready to plan again, I decided to compose a list of things you can do to escape from your wedding planning and festivities as well!
- Go on a date with your hubby-to-be and make it a point to not discuss anything wedding-related.
- Arrange a relaxing weekend getaway with friends or family.
- Do something you’ve always wanted to do, but never have. This could be anything from taking an art class to something extreme like I did. I’ve wanted to go sky diving since I was 18, so I don’t regret it at all! Jordan even wants to go with me next time!
- Have a girls’ night out with your closest friends, and again, make sure y’all don’t discuss anything about your big day.
- If you can’t do a girls’ night out, have a girls’ night in where everyone brings their favorite snacks and watches movies.
- If you haven’t already, find a good workout routine to have a little time for yourself a few days a week.
- You can even do something as simple as giving yourself a night or weekend off to do all the things you want to do, rather than the things you have to do!
No matter how you relax, find some way to do so and give yourself (and everyone else) a little break. I promise you’ll be glad you did!
