My New Year’s resolution? To make it down the aisle and marry my wonderful fiancé Zachary—without losing my already fragile mind.
I’m a bride-to-be and I’m ecstatic. I’m also slightly neurotic, anxiety-prone and a dreamer with unrealistic expectations. In other words, I’m a bridezilla waiting to happen.
So when Arkansas Bride editor Lindsay Irvin asked me to chronicle my wedding journey for her website, it took me about two months to finally say “Yes.” I thought, “I have no idea what I’m doing! I’m definitely not going to get this wedding business ‘right.’”
But here’s something I’ve learned since becoming an “Officially Engaged Person” in October: I may feel like I’m doing everything completely backwards, but there’s no “right” way to plan a wedding. Zach and I are trying to plan a day that is truly meaningful to us, even if we do ruffle a few family and friends’ feathers with our rule-breaking ideas.
So help keep me sane and tell me…
- What you have learned during your own journey?
- What traditions have you kicked to the curb for your wedding or engagement?
Speaking of breaking traditions, next week I’ll reveal the unique engagement ring stone my fiancé and I chose—I adore it…but will you?
