Violet and Joseph talked for months before they actually met in person! While Violet was at school in Fayetteville and Joseph was living in Philadelphia, the two joined a fateful game of Fortnite one night in 2019! They instantly clicked and added each other on Snapchat that night.
A few months later, he flew to Arkansas to meet her in person. They quickly fell in love, and the rest is history! Joseph whisked Violet away to the Tulip Tree Shelter at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in 2023 to pop the question.
“He told me we were just going for a walk, which turned into quite the surprise,” Violet said. “I started to catch on when he pulled out the scrapbook he made for our first dating anniversary and began reading a note he’d written me. It was simple, thoughtful and perfect!”

Q&A
Q: What inspired your wedding day decor?
A: “Our goal was to create a backyard garden party vibe, and The Nest was the perfect place for that,” Violet said. “We focused on enhancing the natural beauty already there while adding a few personal touches to make it our own.”
Q: What personalizations did you incorporate?
A: “Our signature drinks were named after Fortnite potions — a fun little nod to how we met,” Violet said.
Q: What inspired your florals?
A: “I loved gathering little ideas from different styles and bringing them together in a way that felt like us,” Violet said. “I have to give most of the credit to our florist, Jess. She took the loose vision we gave her and turned it into something beyond anything I could have imagined.”
Q: What was your favorite part of the planning process?
A: “My favorite part of the planning process was watching all the little details come together to reflect us,” Violet said. “From the Italian-inspired décor to the Fortnite-themed drinks, every element told a piece of our story. I loved seeing our ideas slowly take shape over time and turn into something so personal and meaningful.”

“Lucy Townsend was an absolute lifesaver,” Violet said. “Lucy took everything we gave her and turned it into something beautiful. We knew we were in good hands, which allowed us to truly relax and enjoy the weekend.”

Story of Our Life
Violet created a custom photo wall for her wedding reception. “We filled it with pictures from different stages of our relationship, along with notes and little mementos we’d written to each other over the years,” Violet said. “It was such a meaningful way to reflect on our journey together and share a glimpse of our story with everyone who came to celebrate with us.”
