A tuxedo or a suit? A bow tie or a long tie? If you’ve found yourself indecisive about wedding attire, you’re not alone.
Michael Armstrong of Paul Morrell Formalwear and blogger for MyTuxedoCatalog.com has a not only informative but entertaining run-down of the options for a formal wedding at the site’s blog. His suggestions? Choose a tuxedo to make the big day unique and unforgettable. “Suits are great, but not for a formal wedding. The truth is, you can wear a nice suit to a wedding and feel very dapper and dressed up, but so can everyone else in attendance,” he writes. “Besides, you can wear that same suit to work and feel all dapper and dressed up any other day of the year. Wear something that sets yourself and this day apart from the rest.”
And if you’ve ever been split between a long tie or the more horizontal version, listen to the expert and go for a bow tie for a more formal look. “Time has proven that a tasteful bow tie worn with a tasteful tuxedo will never go out of style. It’s no coincidence that the bow tie is the namesake for the Gold Standard in Formal Tradition, ‘Black Tie,’” Armstrong writes.
