Let a local graphic designer create your invitations and signage (we love Abigail Fowler Designs!)

Capture a moment in time.

Hire one of Arkansas’ incredible local artists to paint a memorable moment on your wedding day. There are so many artists to choose from, but where do you begin? Decide on the style and art medium you want hanging in your newlywed home first, then pick your painter. Psst! Watercolors by Korry is our new fave. She uses an oh-so-feminine palette and creates pieces for her couples long into their married life.

Consider a micro wedding.

Call your favorite local gallery and see if they’re open to you hosting your ceremony alongside art you love. These smaller spaces are perfect for elopements and micro nuptials and perfect for the non-traditional couple.

Create memories.

For an artsy spin on the guestbook, buy a canvas and paint in your favorite hues, then ask guests to add a few brush strokes to the piece. Take home this work of art created by your closest loved ones as a symbol of their support of your love and marriage.

Crave pretty things.

Arkansas is home to an array of culinary artists, including many local bakers. Weave art into your food through hand-painted wedding cakes and cookies, or ask your creative caterers to think outside the box when styling and serving your wedding menu.

Choose inspiration.

Pick a work of art that you love and let it inspire your color palette, theme and décor. Arkansas top event designers and florists demonstrate this idea for you in our Tablescapes section starting on page 105.

Center a piece of art.

Choose a big, beautiful painting in your fave style!—as your ceremony backdrop. This unique background will be a statement piece in your decor and wow guests. Reuse the backdrop during your reception as a chic photo booth for guests to snap selfies.

Commemorate your wedding day on film.

A big trend for the past few years has been the use of film photography. This medium lends itself to an artsier approach when capturing your big day. This style of photography just begs to be blown up and framed for a major focal point in your nest.

Hire a calligrapher! Host a fashion bridal photoshoot instead of traditional bridals! Hire a caricature artist to draw your guests during the reception–use custom art as your envelope liners (have y’all see the The Artsy Acorn’s beautiful work?)
