UPDATE: Weekend Project: Wedding DIY from “The DIY Bride”

We’ve got to admit, we love a good DIY project, especially when it involves weddings.

Don’t misunderstand: there are some wedding things we’d never do ourselves, but give us a simple table decoration, favor or guestbook project, and we’ll whip out our glue gun faster than you can say Pinterest.

And yes, while Pinterest is overflowing with great ideas, so are good old-fashioned books. In our line of work, a lot of books get sent our way for review. A lot. So they have to be really good to get our attention.

That’s the case with The DIY Bride: An Affair to Remember by Khris Cochran, who also authored this book’s prequel The DIY Bride.

An Affair to Remember is broken up into chapters, one devoted to each unique wedding decor style the book discusses: Sun & Sand, Fairy-Tale Wedding, Exotic Destinations, Winter Wonderland, A Touch of Country, Bright Lights Big City, Into the Garden and The New Modern.

Each of the chapters features five different projects, for a total of 40 quick and easy DIY projects that can easily be accomplished in a weekend, alone or with friends and wine.

Our personal favorites are the Rope-Wrapped Centerpiece from the Sun & Sand chapter (all you need are glass vases, a glue gun, sisal rope and flowers); and the Vintage Luggage Guest Book from the Exotic Destinations chapter (you round up an old suitcase and vintage blank postcards for guests to sign — too cute).

The book is full of too many great ideas to mention here, but one lucky reader will win a copy! Just sign up for Arkansas Bride‘s new FREE eNewsletter to receive exclusive personalized planning tips, the inside scoop on sales, giveaways and events, news from the editors’ blog, expert advice from Arkansas wedding pros and more.

Once you’ve signed up, leave us a comment saying that you did. We’ll choose one winner at random and announce it on next Friday’s blog post. Good luck!

UPDATE: Our winner is Ginny! Ginny, please email me at ahoelzeman@abpg.com, and we’ll get the book to you. Thanks everyone!
