We were able to catch up with Donny Moore, master florist and co-owner of Bella Flora, 14710 Cantrell Rd., Ste. 8A, Little Rock, and he gave us the scoop on how he got into the floral business, how creative Bella Flora really is and all the things it sells (it’s not just flower arrangements!):

1. Growing up in a small town kept Moore’s job opportunities pretty slim. When in high school, he joined a club that required he work after school. “In the small town I grew up in there were really only three options: grocery stores, a feed store or a florist,” he said.  Moore applied to be a delivery driver, but soon they discovered that he was “directionally impaired,” he said, so they trained him to start working with flowers by doing simple things like bud vases. And the rest is history!
2. At Bella Flora, when you contact the staff directly, they are able to offer some of the most creative and custom designs that you will see anywhere for weddings, events and even everyday designs, Moore said. “You won’t find a lot of premade cookie-cutter arrangments on our shelves as each piece is custom-designed according to your budget and taste,” he said. “We can be as creative or traditional as you would like us to be.”  
3. In addition to creating a spectatular bouquet and arrangements for that special day, Bella Flora also offers a huge variety of gift items such as bath & body, candles, gourmet food mixes and much more.

Peonies or orchids? I love the elegance of an orchid.  It’s very presence makes a statement of class,elegance, & beauty.

What floral trends are you loving right now?  I love the french-modern look.  It still has a vintage feel without the mason jars and white washed containers.  It’s opulant, romantic and provides a clean sleek look.

Go-to flower for brides on a budget? Hydrangeas!  They are a timeless beauitful whose simplicity and size can make even the smallest wedding budget, look lavish.

Outdoor venue or indoor venue? I love to see a wedding at night under the stars.  Candles and specialty lighting along with the beautiful floral designs glowing really do create a wonderful romantic event.  But if you plan an outdoor wedding in Arkansas, you might want to have a plan B, just in case.

One piece of advice that you give brides when it comes to choosing flowers for the wedding:  First settle on a budget, then the style you hope to achieve.  When you sit down with your florist, find out what flowers will be in season.  Allow them to offer creative designs and flowers that will help you achieve your dream wedding and yet come close to what have budgeted.  Remember your choice of flowers greatly affect your budget.
