Arkansas Wedding Advice from a Real Newlywed: ‘I’m Officially a Newlywed’

It’s true. I’m can officially be labeled “a newlywed.” However, I don’t know how long that term can be applied – six months, a year, until you have kids? I guess I’ll be one until someone tells me otherwise!

So, a quick recap …. (I’ll try to be brief!)

I met Frazier, my now husband, at my old job in Northwest Arkansas. I took a job right after college in corporate America, and we happened to be placed in the same branch. He ended up asking me out three times, and the third time was the charm. Our hatred of our jobs and love of having fun instantly brought us together. After him moving to Little Rock, doing long distance for more than a year, and me deciding to go to graduate school, we finally ended up engaged February 2010. I chose to have a long engagement mainly to wrap up school, but also, to have enough time to plan.

Frazier and I got married April 9th here in Little Rock, where I am from, at Immanuel Baptist Church with a reception at Pleasant Valley Country Club. It was everything I wanted and more! (Editor’s note: She’s being modest, IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! We loved the indoor/outdoor reception and the band playing on the terrace. Oh, and the delicious Southern food!)

I am now an account executive at Arkansas Business Publishing Group, and my co-worker, friend, and editor of Arkansas Bride, Lindsay Irvin asked me to share about married life – “nesting” as she likes to call it. I agreed, and now, here I am! I’m going to try to blog about our post-wedding life (nothing overly-personal here…I’m not that kind of blogger), but I also want to share about fun trips to take, great finds for the home, and other newlyweds.

Until next time …

Deborah Edwards, a recent newlywed bride from Little Rock, is an account executive for our sister publication Little Rock Family (You may want to bookmark that site for later, hehe). She will chronicle the exciting days of settling into married, buying a house, nesting in said house and all the goodies (maybe babies?) in between. Learn more about Deborah and her husband Frazier on her personal blog, Edwards Newlywed Nest
