My husband and I recently received an invitation to our college buddy, Susannah Spoon and her adoring fiance Tommy Fuquay’s couples shower. The invite was created by Molly’s Paperie in Little Rock and features the cutest pink pig on a festive red paisley background, hinting at the theme of the event: An Arkansas Razorback tailgate shower, at which the couple will be gifted presents geared toward tailgating in style – and in support of their beloved Razorbacks.
I just love this idea! Maybe because I’m a Razorback too, or maybe because it’s so creative, comes with a cute invitation and sent me out on a themed shopping mission (don’t you love shopping with a theme in mind! I do.)!
Our college friends Pamela Phillips, Kristen Kee, Jeff Ford, Betsy Koehler and Lanny Smalling are all co-hosting this event, but I reached out to Pamela so she could tell me a little more about the couples shower they have planned for this Saturday:
- Where did you get the idea for this type of shower?
When we started planning this shower, finding a date that worked for the busy Bride and Groom was a challenge. Add football season to the mix, and our options became even more limited. The Bride knew the demographic for this shower would be young couples, and when the Bride and Groom said they were available on September 24, it made sense to plan the co-ed shower around the Arkansas v. Alabama game. Since it’s an away game for Arkansas, we thought it might be fun to set up a tailgate in the yard, have a couple TVs going, and enjoy each other’s company all while celebrating Susannah and Tommy’s upcoming marriage.

While Molly’s Paperie did not have these invitations in-store, we searched their catalogs until we found an invitation that fit the bill. Initially, we searched for invitations with an Arkansas Razorback logo or design, but nothing really stood out to us. When we saw this invitation by Inviting Company in one of Molly’s binders, we thought it was the perfect balance of Razorback and yard BBQ. Molly helped us nail down the language, and the turn around time was just a couple days from there!
