The Art of the Invitation: Painting a Picture of Your Coming Nuptials

No matter what mood you’re trying to create at your wedding, guests will get their first inkling of it when their invitation arrives. And if you’re planning on incorporating a monogram into your wedding day, this is normally the place where it makes its first appearance. Make no mistake; it takes plenty of planning and foresight for the invitation and the event to be simpatico. But just knowing your general “theme” can make the process easier. Here are a few different looks for themes we call “Whimsical,” “Seasonal” and “Eco-Friendly.”

Seasonal
You know that autumn in Arkansas is gorgeous – that’s why you planned your wedding for that time of year. Especially if you’re having an outdoor wedding, consider using invitations that feature the same color that’s on the trees. For wintertime, loose associations – like muted colors and snowflake-esque designs – works just as nicely as invitations that evoke the feeling of sitting fireside at the ski lodge.

Eco-Friendly
“Green” is a big trend in weddings today because their carbon footprints can be considerable. You can mitigate your environmental impact by choosing invitations made of recycled paper. The design doesn’t necessarily have to have an earthy feel to it, but you can’t go wrong aesthetically drawing inspiration from nature.

Whimsical
You’ve been excited about your wedding since well before you even began planning in earnest. Letting your elation shine through in bright colors, intricately twisting designs and other happy features puts your prospective guests in the same mood. After all, you want them to look forward to celebrating with you.
