What was your overall inspiration? Classic and country vintage with a hint of homemade

How did you choose your colors/décor theme? For the colors: My parent’s wedding was baby blue and yellow, and I grew up always wanting a wedding just like theirs. I added some colors for more pop and to “express” my fun side. For the theme: With a lot of the décor, it was just a matter of asking myself “what do I think is truly beautiful?” The back story is I grew up around Southern Living-style decorating and seemed to be practically raised in flea markets, so that d a lot of my “perceptions of beauty.” For the décor: I wanted old things and Southern things with a classic feel, hence the vintage dress, the baskets of berries, garden flowers and things that were handmade.

What were your interesting personal touches and unique details? The groom’s cake was made to represent where we met; my cake was made by Justin’s mom, we served a Mexican drink that was Justin’s favorite for toasts; handmade M&M favors by me and Justin’s sister Summer; we did a guestbook quilt; Justin’s sister played piano as I walked down the aisle; I handmade the hanky Justin used at the wedding; during our engagement photos, Justin and I painted a piece of art that hung over the venue’s fireplace; we did send-off ribbons instead of bird seed or bubbles; and so much more.

What one detail truly made the wedding yours? The dress

How did you customize your wedding? I just picked out what I liked and edited out what didn’t work. Very customized!

How did you save money in planning your wedding? Handmade things and family and friends with LOADS of talent and generosity; it was definitely a community effort! And we are so grateful!
