Peyton and Lindsey went to high school together and remained close friends through college, but the destined pair didn’t start dating until they moved home to Little Rock after college in 2009. Their longtime friendship blossomed into love, their love grew into an engagement, and finally into a full-fledged wedding featuring her “French-inspired shabby chic” décor.
Bride’s Inspiration
“I am a high school French teacher and have always loved all things French. I wanted my wedding to reflect that, as well as my love for vintage and shabby chic décor.”
How They Customized
The menus were written in French, and they served pastel French macaroons, a delicacy Lindsey fell in love with while she was in France. For the décor, they used stacks of antique books and lots of unique mercury glass votives and vases. “The florist did a great job of making each arrangement different,” Lindsey said, and “my mom found a beautiful gray damask print to bring it all together.”
Ways They Saved
By doing a lot of the work themselves, Lindsey and Peyton were able to save. “My mom did all of the calligraphy; we printed and assembled all of the programs; made the pink luggage tag place cards; shopped for mercury glass on sale; made the hanging moss “G” for the church entrance…” She said they also made the table runners.
What detail truly make the wedding yours?
“Our marriage was truly the outcome of generations of long-standing marriages, so we displayed vintage photographs of our ancestors’ weddings—from our parents’ weddings to my great-great grandparents’ in the late 1800s.”
