Allison Marie McMinn & Tyler David Rooks
April 8, 2017 • Stuttgart
First United Methodist Church | Grand Prairie Center
Allison has a best friend to thank for her relationship with Tyler. The friend introduced them, even going to dinner several times with them before Tyler eventually asked Allison on a date – just the two of them. She knew Tyler was “sweet and caring,” but says seeing what a wonderful father he is sealed the deal. Tyler proposed on the beach in Florida with Allison’s family there.
The Inspiration
Allison’s wedding was influenced by English gardens. Abundant greenery took center stage, with natural wood furniture, ivory linens and mirrored accents. Linen chairs and sofas from Hanks Events and Rentals gave the space a cozy feel.
How They Customized
Music to Our Ears
FIRST DANCE
“How Long Will I Love You” by Ellie Goulding
FATHER-DAUGHTER DANCE
“Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder
Growing up in the First United Methodist Church in Stuttgart, Allison knew she “couldn’t imagine being married anywhere else.” Instead of choosing one flower girl and one ring bearer, all nine of Allison and Tyler’s young cousins rang bells as they walked down the aisle together in heirloom outfits. Allison accented her dress with a handkerchief and garter made by a family friend from her mother’s wedding dress. Their wedding officiant was Tyler’s youth pastor, which Allison says “was very special.”
At the reception, guests took to the dance floor in foam party hats with greenery and Edison light bulbs hanging overhead from a wooden frame designed by Central Arkansas Entertainment. Artist Issac Alexander captured their first dance in a watercolor painting that now hangs in the couple’s living room. Stephanie Boyd designed not only a five-tier wedding cake, but also a World Series trophy grooms cake for Tyler, a huge Chicago Cubs fan. Allison’s grandmother’s antique oak dining table served as the perfect cake table.
