Ashley Willis of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Jesse Hughes of Armorel met in the summer of 2011. The two were introduced by mutual friends and simply became inseparable, proving true love doesn’t have to be complicated. Four years and a stent of long distance later, Jesse stopped by Ashley’s place, just like any other day. It was there that he got on one knee in a perfect, quiet, heartfelt moment that the two shared privately and happily.
The Inspiration
Ashley continued the couple’s simple and classic style into the planning process, sticking with lots of neutrals and greenery with touches of navy and gold to create a cozy, romantic, woodland winter wedding.
How They Customized
The woodland aspect of the décor showed up in subtle, but stunning details throughout the evening, appearing in the wooden stands lining the ceremony and reception space, the gold mistletoe favors and the silhouette of a stag in signage and tabletop elements.
There was one part, however, that was pivotal to the big day: their two Boxer fur babies, Bronx and TigerLily. The pups served as honorary flower girl and ring bearer, meaning they attended the ceremony, but didn’t have to actually walk the aisle. The couple even put together a dog treat station for guests to take home gifts to their dogs.
