Although Sarah DeHart and Nick Culpepper both hail from Jonesboro and even went to the same high school, the two didn’t know each other until her sophomore year of college at the University of Arkansas. During his first year of dental school at the University of Tennessee at Memphis, Nick visited Fayetteville and the two randomly met, and things took off quickly. After just two weeks, they gambled on a long-distance relationship living five hours a part, and it paid off with a happy relationship for two more years. It was Christmas of 2011 when finally Nick proposed to his longtime love in front of the Christmas tree at Sarah’s parents’ house. “He knows how much I love Christmas,” she says. “It was so special and meant the world to me.”
BRIDE’S INSPIRATION
Sarah wanted the wedding to be very romantic and lush with a Kate Spade twist. Flowers were a must on every table, Sarah says, and sparkles and patterns played a big role in the décor. Just about every variety of pink and white could be seen in décor.
HOW THEY CUSTOMIZED
While Sarah is very girly and loves everything embellished with sparkles, she is also a big Razorback fan, along with Nick. To incorporate the Hogs in some way, they had Nick’s groom’s cake under an Arkansas tailgate tent decked out with UofA memorabilia, and on an additional table, Sarah’s father had built a replica of Baum Stadium with truffles as baseball players and fans. “It was cute and delicious without looking too girly,” she says. “Nick was very happy.”
FRIENDS FOREVER
One of Sarah’s favorite moments was being in the car on the way to the church. She says she couldn’t contain her excitement and just started crying. But, luckily for her, all of her best friends were right there with her in the limo, making it all the more special. “I just remember us all hugging. I was so happy that I was lucky enough to be blessed with these amazing people,” she says.
