Intramural basketball brought Brittany and Esteban together. After their first date, they never looked back. Esteban, from Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, taught Brittany to salsa dance and cook Venezuelan food. In turn, Brittany taught him how to call the Hogs and what Southern food does for the soul. The couple loves exploring Arkansas’ parks and trails, so it was only fitting that Esteban proposed on the Hemmed-In Hollow Trail near Ponca.
Brittany was looking for a clean, earthy and industrial vibe for their wedding. She took inspiration from the Hamp Williams Building with its metal, stone and exposed brick, and she wanted to balance it with simple, natural elements. She envisioned long rows of tables adorned with lush garlands of olive leaf, spiral eucalyptus, bay leaf rosemary, and other symbolic herbs. Randi Slick of Signature Events helped bring Brittany’s vision to life. Greenery was balanced with tall, brass candlesticks, gold terrariums with air plants and glass orbs. Single glass bud vases with olive branches dotted the reception area.
The merge of cultures was celebrated throughout the reception. Dinner was served family-style to keep everyone talking, laughing and passing food throughout the night, and imported Venezuelan rum was a bar staple. The different cultures were also represented through music with a mix of Latin and American songs.
