Matt Martinez and Sydney McGehee were introduced in 2013 by Sydney’s sister. After meeting, the two hit it off and soon fell in love. Sydney was studying at Harding University in Searcy at the time and Matt was working and going to school at UCA in Conway. The couple dated for a year and a half before Sydney graduated and was able to join her family and Matt in Conway.
Lately, the two have enjoyed visiting Conway Escape Mystery Rooms. They went on a date to the escape rooms on May 1. After becoming “bank robbers” and retrieving the bank’s gold, Matt revealed a ring from a locked box and asked Sydney to marry him.
The Inspiration
The color inspiration came from a fall transitional feeling, while keeping it formal with gold accents. They also used greenery to complement the natural light and openness of the venue.
When it came to choosing the venue, Sydney and Matt were having a hard time choosing an indoor or outdoor ceremony. With Cold Springs, they didn’t have to choose. Having the ceremony indoors provided an abundance of windows that provided an outdoor feeling without the worry of bad weather.
How They Customized
Sydney and Matt chose to keep things casual when it came to the food and chose breakfast for dinner. The two incorporated all of their favorite breakfast foods including Sydney’s mother’s recipe for chocolate gravy, which was a big hit.
Sydney says that the photography and videography where the best things they splurged on. The couple has already used many prints from the photographers and will be able to relive the day over as often as they’d like from the work of the videographer.
