Morgan Tanner of Piggott and Thomas Thrash from Little Rock are full of surprises. They met at the age of 10 when their grandmothers, who are close friends, took their families on a trip to New York City. The two lost touch, of course, but reunited at the University of Arkansas and started dating after graduation.
Years later, as they were about to leave for what Morgan thought would be just another dinner out, Thomas dropped to one knee. He took Morgan completely by surprise by proposing right there on the spot. He then promised they could call and invite everyone to dinner, but once they got to the restaurant, he amazed her again—all of their loved ones were already there waiting for them.
Surprise, Surprise
Morgan and Thomas had originally planned to elope and throw a big reception later, but after meeting with their planners, they walked away with a blueprint for one of the most unique weddings we’ve seen—a surprise wedding.
The couple decided to throw a huge New Year’s Eve party—the perfect disguise—and carefully kept any clues about tying the knot top secret.
The Reveal
When guests arrived, they were greeted with a flute of champagne and an embossed napkin which told of the night’s surprise nuptials—the couple relaxed in a nearby suite, listening to all the excited reactions.
The Inspiration
Their New Year’s Eve party was not only a great cover, but it inspired a fabulous color palette to boot. Opting for black and metallic accents, their bash was everything you would imagine at a Gatsby-esque soirée. The NYE glitz was amplified by the oversized floral arrangements and Morgan’s vintage 1960s Naeem Khan gown. The night glittered with new beginnings and full-on glam.
