Erin Jeffrey and Ryan Lamberson both grew up in Little Rock and attended the University of Arkansas, but the couple’s paths didn’t cross until they were both in pharmacy school. Ryan’s mom even taught Erin taekwondo growing up, so Erin is sure they nearly met many, many times before the official day.

Ryan decided to propose during a spring trip the couple took to Boston. On their way to dinner on the first night, they took a walk through Esplanade Park along the Charles River. As they were crossing the bridge, Ryan dropped down on one knee and asked her to marry him. There were even photographers there to capture the moment.

Planning During a Pandemic

The two had plans for a big 250-person wedding that was months in the making before COVID-19 changed everything. Instead of celebrating with all of their friends and family, the couple had to whittle down their guest list to just the bride and groom, seven of their family members and their pastor. What resulted was an incredibly intimate and beautiful May afternoon that put the spotlight on what the day was truly about—the love between Erin and Ryan.

THE INSPIRATION

With the wedding set for the spring, Erin knew she wanted a light and fresh color palette of pastels. She incorporated soft hues and lots of florals for an intimate and romantic event. Erin worked closely with her planner Jessika McCuin to pivot from their initial wedding plans. Despire all the setbacks, “Everything was so beautiful and detailed, down to the most gorgeous macarons and place settings,” Erin says. “All of our incredible vendors came together and made us feel so loved and celebrated, despite all the craziness going on.”

HOW THEY CUSTOMIZED

COLOR STORY

Erin’s absolute favorite fashion elements from the wedding were her shoes and earrings. She had purchased a pair of plain white heels months before the wedding, but about three weeks before the big day she came across the most gorgeous shoes that perfectly matched the wedding color scheme and had to have them.

The bride’s beautiful earrings belong to her 97-year-old grandmother. They are opal and diamond, which are both Erin and her grandmother’s birthstones, and the earrings are one of her favorite pieces of jewelry.

Because she couldn’t come to the wedding due to travel restrictions and safety concerns, she mailed the earrings to Erin for the ceremony. “Out of all the plans that changed with my wedding, not being able to have her there was the hardest part for me because we are so incredibly close,” Erin says. “Her earrings were a very special way to still have her be a part of our wedding day.”
