Sydnie Ross & Sean Landers
October 29, 2016 • Conway Municipal Airport
Conway native Sydnie Ross first met her husband-to-be while attending summer camp, but back then he was just her friend Elise’s “hot older brother.” Later, Sydnie and Sean Landers were both on staff at Kanakuk. Sydnie says the way he served the kids made them feel like rockstars, but she was the one falling head over heels. Her summer camp crush evolved into a full-blown infatuation. The two began dating after that summer, and they’ve never looked back.
The Inspiration
Sydnie and Sean’s guest list dictated the venue had to be large enough to accommodate 1,000 friends and family. The lightbulb moment for Sydnie came when flying into the Conway airport at sunset, which provided a gorgeous backdrop. The airport venue was also symbolic to the couple because of the two years of long-distance dating they had endured. Instead of being a place for gut-wrenching goodbyes, airports now signify the beginning of happily ever after.
The couple left the design execution to their good friend, Jessica Zimmerman. Sydnie wanted to marry her love of eccentric and modern styles with Sean’s love of the outdoors. Sydnie says she didn’t want blush or nude bridesmaids dresses, because she wanted them to stand out on the miles and miles of concrete. So instead, the main colors were emerald, gold and wood.

How They Customized
Sydnie and Sean worked to make their large wedding an intimate affair. The entire evening was one-of-a-kind, from the tarmac ceremony to the hangar reception.
The couple served a gluten-free cookie dough and peanut butter swirl ice cream, custom-made by Loblolly. They swapped the traditional guest book for a video booth inside of an Airstream.
Part of Sydnie’s mother’s wedding gown was made into a garter and a bouquet wrap, and her late grandfather’s blue shirt was sewn into the inside of her dress in a heart shape.
For their exit, the couple walked out in matching leather jackets with “Just Married” painted on the back (a la Kimye), and stepped onto a private plane as husband and wife.
