Miki Fountain & Bryan Hiller

The Grandeur House
Miki Fountain and Bryan Hiller met in a classic example of being at the right place at the right time. Both Miki and Bryan were at the same spot in Little Rock celebrating two separate friends’ birthdays. They noticed each other from across the room, and Bryan worked up the courage to go talk to Miki and her friends. They instantly hit it off and they’ve been together ever since.
When it came time to propose, Bryan planned a special weekend trip for the two of them. Once they got to the airport, Miki discovered Bryan was taking her to Dallas. The couple checked into the Mansion at Turtle Creek and then they headed to the Dallas Arboretum. The two walked the grounds until they reached the Poetry Garden. The area featured an old stone castle-like structure that was roped off.
“He walked me past the ropes, which is when I know something was up because Bryan doesn’t ever go where he isn’t supposed to,” she says. “We walked into the center of the castle-like structure and he did his speech and I said ‘Yes.’ After, he told me how relieved he was that the ring was out of his possession and into mine.”
THE INSPIRATION
Miki had been dreaming about her wedding day since she was a little girl. She drew inspiration from her love of pinks and wanted lots and lots of flowers. The couple aspired to create an inviting and relaxed environment for their guests. The couple had plenty on their plate juggling sports schedules for their five kids and Bryan’s work as an orthodontist, so they decided to put the planning in the capable hands of Natalie Scott, owner of Natalie Scott Events and The Grandeur House.
Coincidentally, Miki had discovered The Grandeur House when it was first being built and thought the concept was exactly what she’d want if she ever got married. Bryan and Miki even drove by when it was being built. As soon as Bryan popped the question, Miki messaged Natalie Scott and locked down the wedding date. “I never looked anywhere else, she says. “I knew this was where I wanted to get married.”
HOW THEY CUSTOMIZED
Flowers were the focal point of the ceremony decor. The aisle entry was flanked by two white columns with full arrangements of white hydrangeas and a mix of roses. At the end of the aisle was a Kim Kardashian-inspired wall of flowers consisting of two 10-foot-tall floral panels filled with hydrangeas and roses. The panels doubled as a photo backdrop during the reception.

The couple made the wedding a family affair by including their kids as their bridal party. Miki’s son and daughter stood on her side and Bryan’s two sons and daughter stood on his side. The kids walked down the aisle in line from youngest to oldest to stand next to their parents.
When the couple started planning their reception, they knew they wanted lots of food. The couple had multiple food stations for their guests to try a little bit of everything. They had a Southern station with chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits, an American station with sliders and a french fry bar and a Mexican station with three different kinds of street tacos with all the fixings. For dessert, they hired a cotton candy stand that served three different flavors (strawberry champagne, marshmallow and watermelon). As guests left, they walked past a table full of Chick-fil-A chicken minis packaged for the road.
Looking back on the day, Miki remembers the feeling she had when they were officially pronounced husband and wife: “We did it, we took two families, two work schedules, two chaotic lives and put them together. It went off without a hitch, and I was glad I didn’t trip on my dress walking down the aisle. Also, the kids remembered how to walk out perfectly! We were ready to move onto the party and celebrate with our families and friends.”
Miki drew inspiration from her love of pinks and lots and lots of flowers. Lush arrangements of hydrangea and roses transformed the venue.
