Kelsey Bean & Kirk Van Slyke
The Anthony Chapel at Garvan Woodland Gardens, Hot Springs
August 9, 2015
Hot Springs native Kelsey Bean and Texas native Kirk Van Slyke fell in love during college at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. They were both student athletes at the time—Kirk played basketball and Kelsey ran track. The two quickly became best friends. “He was what I most looked forward to every day,” Kelsey said.
Their dating relationship was one adventure after the next, especially during a nine-month stint when Kirk played professional basketball overseas in Japan. “No number of miles could have kept us from supporting each other,” she said. “The distance was an opportunity for us to grow in our love together.”
Indeed it was, as Kirk proposed as soon as he returned. It was a magical moment atop Pinnacle Mountain.
