Young girls dream of meeting a childhood sweetheart at summer camp and one day that puppy love turning into true love. For Katie Fredrickson, a St. Petersburg, Fla. native, that dream came true. She and Harrison native Adam Bennett met as camp counselors, sharing snacks and writing notes back and forth, and by the end of the summer, they were smitten. Four hard years of long distance later, Adam surprised Katie at what she thought was a sorority sister’s engagement announcement. They left the Skype dates in the past as he proposed in front of 200 of her closest friends.
The Inspiration
Like a lazy summer day at camp, Katie and Adam wanted a fun, laidback outdoors wedding. They thrifted and got their hands dirty with DIY projects as much as possible, adding to the casual atmosphere.
The Details
The handcrafted details went a long way in giving the Bennett wedding a personalized touch. From the colorful pennants made by Adam’s aunt to each of the carefully sourced vases used in the reception décor, the bride, groom and their family and friends helped make this wedding unique and special.
