Jennifer Lee of Little Rock was just another accounting student at Southern Methodist University when she met Daniel Grinnan of Dallas in the fall of 2007. Through classes and social events, they slowly got to know each other and were together by spring. Their relationship endured many long distance intervals, but they finally decided to leave that world behind and begin their own. Five years to the day of Daniel first professing his love, he proposed to Jennifer on a beautiful Florida vacation with their families waiting to surprise her.

The Inspiration

Jennifer’s love of sapphires is no secret; they’re even in her engagement ring that her sister and Daniel designed. So it’s no wonder the timeless combination and beauty of diamonds and sapphires set the tone for their whole wedding. Ceiling drapery and cascades of wisteria only made the hues shine brighter. From lighting to tables and everything in between, the whole event glimmered just like the ring on Jennifer’s finger.

The Details

It was important to Jennifer and Daniel to spend quality time with their out-of-town friends and family – and to make them fall in love with the states they love so much. The couple filled welcome boxes with some of their favorite Arkansas snacks and Texas treats, and after the rehearsal dinner, they had a welcome party downtown with live music, drinks and dancing.

The Dress

Jennifer’s dress served as inspiration for the cake and Daniel designed Smathers and Branson needlepoint cufflinks for his groomsmen and ushers. They even danced on stage at the reception to “New York, New York” as an ode to the personal connection they have to the city.
