John Crosby grew up in Little Rock, and Jen Imbro’s family moved there when she was in high school, but it wasn’t until years later that the two met through mutual friends. They fell fast, but due to poor timing, went their separate ways. When they reconnected a few years later, they never looked back.
Down the road, the two took a trip to South Carolina where Jen was certain he would propose, but John played it cool. So cool, in fact, that he completely threw Jen off his trail. One night after dinner, the two went for a walk on the beach, where John surprised Jen with a romantic proposal under the stars.
The Inspiration
Growing up with parents who own Party Time Rentals & Events, Jen was challenged to not only find inspiration in something that represented her and John, but also to find a look that she hadn’t seen a thousand times. She turned to their love of bright, bold colors for the basis of their modern, luxe affair, while rows of candlelight added romance.
How They Customized
Jen and John also wanted to sculpt a menu that reflected their love for food and craft beer. The couple teamed up with the chef at the Pleasant Valley Country Club to customize dishes as nods to important moments in their relationship, such as boiled peanuts, a South Carolina signature snack. The crowd favorite, however, was the “Crosbeers Bar” featuring the newlyweds’ favorite beers from around the country, including the brew they sipped the night John proposed. Guests even left with Crosbeers Bar koozies and customized sunglasses.
