Holly Humphries & John Sherrill
Dec. 23, 2012 • Villa Marre & Copeland’s, Little Rock
Little Rock native Holly Humphries and John Sherrill of Jonesboro first came face-to-face during medical school interviews, but it took a new student orientation nine months later for them to start getting to know one another. Holly had an extra ticket for Wicked at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre in Little Rock and invited John to go with her. “By the end of the night, we knew that there was something special between us,” she says. On a behind-the-scenes penguin exhibit tour at the St. Louis Zoo, John proposed with the help of “two adorable little penguins named Cantante and Shadow,” Holly says. “I couldn’t have imagined a more personal, perfect proposal!”
To celebrate his proposal and her love of penguins, Holly integrated a few penguin-inspired elements into the details, like penguin ornament favors, which also matched their Christmas theme. “We thought that deep green, silver and gold would be the perfect color palette to create a warm, cozy feel,” the bride says.
