Chelsea Harper & Jeff Vargas
October 10, 2020 / Osage House in Cave Springs
CHELSEA AND JEFF met while they were working for Walmart. Chelsea took a job that moved her to the electronics department where she, ironically, was having trouble setting up her new monitor. Jeff stepped in and offered his tech support. Now, he is her official tech support forevermore.
The proposal was nearly a covert military operation. Chelsea is “like the CIA and constantly wants to be in the know with everything going on,” she says. Somehow Jeff was able to ask for the blessing, plan and do a dry run of the proposal, all without Chelsea’s knowledge.
They had found their dream home and Jeff decided it was the opportune moment to pop the question. Jeff told Chelsea that they needed to bring some boxes over to the house after work that day and she didn’t think anything else of it. As she walked, she found a candlelit, rose petal path that ended in a heart with a “Will you marry me?” sign. John Legend played in the background as she said “yes.”
PLANNING DURING A PANDEMIC
With COVID-19, it was a much different experience than they were expecting, but Amanda Reed Weddings made it a truly delightful experience. They had Zoom planning sessions in between in-person meetings. And Chelsea says every single vendor they worked with was so kind and generous with their time. The couple felt very lucky; they did not have to reschedule, and most of their guests were able to attend.
HOW THEY CUSTOMIZED
Chelsea was amazed by how the Osage House perfectly met their needs, even though they booked before the venue was built! They took the leap of faith and were wowed by the payoff.
Chelsea chose a dress from She Said Yes Bridal that was custom, timeless, and best of all, it had pockets.
The bridesmaids wore maroon to match the overall wedding colors and décor. Jeff wore a navy blue suit with a maroon tie and matching pocket square. The bride’s lace and satin ribbon stilettos tied beautifully into the decor too.
For the reception, the bride asked the Amanda Reed Weddings team to create a space that was classic but with flowers that popped, and everything coordinated with the couple’s fall-inspired invitations and envelope liners—from the escort cards and the custom bar decal to the floral dance floor and the watercolor wedding cake. The four-tier confection was encircled by a gold cake hoop found on Etsy and lush florals created by PIGMINT Floral Studio. The flowers throughout the day tied everything together perfectly.
