MyFitnessPal App Helps You Trim Down

Looking to shed just a few pounds before the big day? Hoping to keep it off after you’ve tied the knot? While looking to kickstart my own weightloss program, I stumbled upon the most amazing Smartphone app–MyFitnessPal–and I knew I had to share it with all of you brides-to-be and newlyweds.

Here’s how it works: MyFitnessPal allows you to log every meal and every snack by searching a database of more than 1,256,000 foods and restaurant items. It also knows we’re creatures of habit, so it saves everything you’ve ever logged so you can easily add it again in the future. If a food isn’t in the database, there’s also a scanning option that allows you to easily scan the barcode of the food you’re eating.

Tell MyFitnessPal your current weight, your goal weight and how many pounds you’d like to lose in a week and it will give you a daily calorie allowance to meet. It automatically deducts any food you add so you always know how many calories you have left each day. It also breaks down your diet so that you can see what percentage you’re taking in of carbohydrates, fat and protein.

Plus, you can log any cardiovascular or weight training exercise, and MyFitnessPal will deduct an estimated amount of calories per activity.

I’ve been using the app for a week with the goal to lose 1/2 pound per week, and it has been 100 percent successful! I’m so excited!

And the best part is….it’s FREE! Download MyFitnessPal for iPhone, Android, Blackberry or now, Windows Phone, and get yourself in gear! Don’t have a Smartphone? You can do everything online too at MyFitnessPal.com.
