Meet the Photographer: Connor Goad of The North Lens

Our next photographer to spotlight in our “Meet the Photog” series is Connor Goad of The North Lens. Connor has been shooting weddings for about two and a half years and in that time, he’s established his style as “authentic, natural and relationship-driven.”

Read on to find out all about Connor’s life as a wedding photographer.

What did you do before?

I started shooting weddings the fall after I graduated college. My original plan was to pursue a Juris Doctorate in law school but I decided against that at almost the last minute and instead ended up doing an apprenticeship program in worship ministry at Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock. While I was in that program, I picked back up the camera with the intent of shooting weddings and other portraiture.

How would you describe your photography style?

Authentic, natural, and relationship-driven! I strive to form a friendly relationship with my clients. I’ve found that this creates a safe environment where people feel free to react and express their emotions more genuinely, which I then have the privilege of capturing! When photography is done well there is a very special bond formed between the photographer and the bride and groom.

What are moments you make sure to capture on a wedding day?

Well, I make sure to capture all of them! I do place emphasis on the “in-between” moments. Small laughs exchanged between groomsmen, little hugs and moments of encouragement between bridesmaids, etc.!

What do you love about being a wedding photographer?

I love people and I love having fun! Weddings are the perfect combo of these things. I also get to experience being a part of the family or the friend group of the bride and groom for a day which is always awesome.

What’s your favorite part of photographing a wedding?

Forming new friendships/relationships, capturing moments, dancing, and wedding cake!

What price points can brides expect?

My median price point is $2,800.

What’s one piece of advice you like to give brides on their big day?

Relax. Like really, relax and have fun! This is the best day of your life. At the end of this day, you’re married and that is all that matters! The day is as wonderful and fun as you choose for it to be. Also, drink lots of water the week leading up to the wedding. Lots and lots!

When you’re not shooting weddings, what do you like to do with your spare time?

I love being outside. Running, hiking and playing with my dog helps me clear my head and exhale a bit! Beyond that, I am passionate about movies and learning. I could spend a whole day watching movies and then spend the next day watching analyses of those movies on YouTube.

What’s your favorite way to unwind after a busy wedding weekend?

Enjoy a glass of whiskey and then go to bed.
