Abby Cress of Stuttgart and Joseph Jay Gladden of Caddo Gap are getting married! The couple resides in Lonoke and have set their wedding date for May 5. They plan to have the ceremony at Lake DeGray State Park in Bismarck.
Abby and Joseph Jay met through mutual friends. Here’s what the bride-to-be had to say about the moment he proposed:
“Our engagement came as a surprise to me. We planned a trip to Hot Springs to go to the horse races with some close friends. It snowed the whole week prior to our trip and I just knew it would be canceled, but JJ kept saying we were going even if we had to go alone. The next day we were getting ready to go when he bent down on one knee; it still didn’t register with me. I remember at one point I even said, ‘What are you doing?’ and he [replied] ‘oh just preparing for the day.’ I had no clue what that meant. Finally, he said, ‘There is something I’ve been meaning to ask you’ and I [jokingly] said, ‘What, to marry you?’ Then he pulls out the ring and says, ‘Well yes, will you marry me?’ And I just started crying and said, ‘Yes, yes, yes!’”
