Those adorable custom geofilters are taking over on Snapchat — and we love it. Want to steal the look for your own proposal or wedding reception? You can now pay for a custom on-demand geofilter for your wedding event, with pricing from $5 to significantly upward, depending on a few factors.
To create your own personal geofilter (as opposed to a business geofilter for brands and businesses), follow Snapchat’s guidelines to design the filter (or use one of their existing wedding templates), and specify your geofence (the area) and the date and time period your geofilter will appear. Snapchat will then need to approve your submission, which takes one business day.
If you’re not big on design, no worries. There are plenty of companies that will create a geofilter for you! Take Confetti, for example. The app provides a series of borders, stickers, and other illustrations to use in your design. The app even provides sample photos so you can preview how the finished product will look.
Once you have your geofilter designed, here’s the playbook for getting it on Snapchat:
1. Upload your design.
2. Choose your time frame. You pay by the hour, so most couples choose to have the filter available during their wedding hours only. However, if you have some additional budget to spend, you could have it be available your entire wedding weekend. Keep time zones in mind. Snapchat’s default is Eastern time so you may need to do some math.
3. Set the geographic area. This will be the location of your wedding. You can type in the address on their map, then use the tool to drawn a “fence” around the area you desire.
4. On the final screen, Snapchat will estimate your costs so you can go back and edit if necessary. You enter your payment info at this time, but you’ll only be charged if the filter is approved.
