Guys, this one’s for you. If you’re ready to take the next step in your relationship, I’m sure you’ve nearly driven yourself crazy trying to think of the perfect proposal. Well, we’re here to help. We’ve got eight tips to make your proposal perfect – for you and for her!
Be prepared – Pretty self-explanatory. Confirm any reservations, talk to anyone you need to, bring your camera or smartphone for pictures, etc.
Talk to her family – If she’s close to her family, she will want the approval of her parents and/or any other family members you think you should include.
Make it a surprise – The two of you have probably mentioned marriage a few times, or you may talk about it every day, but even if she knows it’s coming she wants to be surprised by how you propose, as well as when and where. If you haven’t talked about your future together, bring it up so that you can get an idea of how she feels about it.
Practice makes perfect – Practice what you’re going to say a time or two (but not so many times that it sounds rehearsed) out loud so that you don’t get tongue-tied during the proposal.
Use creativity – Include shared hobbies, interests, favorite memories, etc. into the proposal so that she knows you put your heart and thought into it.
Make sure you tell her why – I was always that kid that asked “why?” to everything (seriously, you can ask my mom), so if I talked to you after you proposed to her, I would ask why you wanted to make her your wife. I’m going to let you in on a big secret: She wants to know why you want to marry her, too. Added bonus: Tell her why you love her.
Get down on one knee – You’ve seen it time and time again, in pictures and movies and everything in between, but even if you aren’t having an old-fashioned proposal, make sure you include this bit of tradition into it.
Don’t forget the ring – She wants to have something to put on her hand whether it’s real, fake or a RingPop, so don’t forget to bring it along! Know whether she wants to choose the ring herself, or if she wants to be surprised by what you’ve picked out.
Happy Engagement!
