Winter just started and that means your tan is probably a little faded. Going to a party and need a tan, pronto? Well, airbrush tanning might be your answer.
It is a process in which sunless tanning solution is applied to the body by a trained airbrush technician.
If you decide on taking the step toward getting a nice glow, here are a few tips to keep in mind, according to eHow.com:
The day before
- Because an airbrush tan is applied to the top layer of skin, it is important to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. Doing so not only extends the life of the tan but also provides an even layer.
- Exfoliate the skin with a gentle body wash with exfoliating beads or use a body scrub at least 24 hours before your appointment.
Day of appointment
- On the day of your appointment, take a shower to cleanse skin and remove all makeup. Skip the lotions and perfumes and skimp a little on the deodorant.
- Also wear loose-fitting clothes– nothing that could rub the bronzer off.
- Take a bathing suit to wear during the application procedure.
After application
- The initial application takes about 10-15 minutes, followed by about 5 minutes of drying time. Wait at least 8 hours after the application to take a shower. Any kind of moisture, including sweat, could cause the bronzer to run. Airbrush tans take hours to fully activate and really bring out the color.
- To extend your tan, use a moisturizer and avoid hot baths, as well as chlorinated water.
An airbrushed tan should last from 7-10 days.
