Four Essential Tips For the Honeymoon

You’ve said “I Do” and said goodbye to family and friends. You’re off on your honeymoon! Follow these tips for a trip you’ll never forget!

Sleep Late
If you and your new hubby are planning to dance the night away at your big reception, consider booking your flight for late the following afternoon. This way, you will get to enjoy your reception and your first night as a married couple without having to worry about being rushed to get to the airport first thing in the morning. Having a stress-free evening behind you will pave the way for smooth honeymoon travels.

Surprise Him
Pack a bag of surprises to keep your honey of a husband on his toes. In addition to those unmentionables you received at your bachelorette party, pack a CD of your favorite love songs, bubble bath or the love potion of your choice. For playtime outside the bedroom, pack some games. Challenge your new hubby to a game of Scrabble or cards if the weather doesn’t cooperate with your plans. Or invite him on a romantic stroll through the rain.

Take Lots of Pictures
After spending six months to a year planning your wedding, you’ll need a vacation. You’ll also want lots of photos to remind you of your romantic adventure together. Remember to pack your digital camera, memory cards and an extra battery, or 400-speed film for a 35mm. Even a nice disposable camera will document your special trip.

Plan Ahead
Booking the honeymoon several months in advance often saves money on flights and hotel accommodations, ensuring that the fabulous honeymoon suite will be waiting for you when you arrive. Remember to renew your passport a few months in advance if you will be traveling outside the country. If you are registering for your first passport, allow three months for the papers to process. For more information on how to acquire a passport, visit the U.S. Department of State’s Web site at Travel.state.gov.
