Jenny Vining of Marshall and Russellville-native T.J. Posey first came face-to-face back in 2010 while attending college at Arkansas Tech. They dated for a few short weeks, but then took a yearlong hiatus until, out of the blue, T.J. Posey reached out to her about a new Bible study group. “We haven’t stopped talking ever since,” Jenny says. The relationship was tested again when Jenny left for Africa for 12 weeks and T.J. committed to a discipleship program in the summer of 2012. The couple kept in touch throughout the summer though, and when Jenny returned there was “no question that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together serving Christ,” she says. T.J. proposed a month later atop scenic Mt. Nebo. “We took time to just pray and soak it all in before all the craziness of telling family and friends,” Jenny says. “It was an awesome day and T.J. did a wonderful job making it very special.”
BRIDE’S INSPIRATION
Being from smaller towns, the couple wanted a “countrified” feel with a vintage touch. “We wanted to make it an eloquent wedding but also very comfortable and welcoming,” Jenny says. That meant several trips to various flea markets around the state for unique finds and a beautiful color palette that revolved around plum and various shades of pink.
HOW THEY CUSTOMIZED
The party favors were vintage tea cups tied with a small tag consisting of the couple’s favorite scripture, their names and date of the wedding. The couple also gave out vintage handkerchiefs tied to an antique door divider with a chalkboard in front that said “for your tears of joy.” Something else that was unique was the church pews used for the first five rows of seating during the ceremony for both families. “All the personal touches and unique details were ways we customized it to be very family-oriented and Christ-centered,” Jenny says.
MEMORABLE MOMENT
The very moment T.J. and Jenny saw each other for the first time stood out. Behind the cabin, there is a pond with a dock and he was waiting there for her amidst a beautiful fog. As she walked up, he turned around and saw Jenny in her gown for the first time. “That time will always be something so special to us,” Jenny says.
