Emily Draughon says it was fate that she bumped into Neil Braddy on Dickson Street in Fayetteville a few years ago. The couple has talked every day since they met, and now they’ve said their I dos!
Neil popped the question on Mount Sequoyah in Fayetteville the day before Emily graduated with a master’s degree, and the Razorback fans decided to tie the knot on the edge of their beloved U of A campus at the Inn at Carnall Hall.
We can’t wait for you to see these photos from Emily and Neil’s classic winter wedding!
On the jewelry: “One of the favorite fashion elements from my wedding was actually the jewelry. Everything was sentimental. When I was a little girl I had received a pearl necklace from my grandparents and family friend. Every birthday they would add another pearl. I also wore a blue topaz ring that my father had given my mother.”
On the Christmas theme: “I wanted to have a classic wedding, but our wedding was also in December. Christmas is my favorite holiday and I wanted to include that in the theme. The venue was already decorated with lights and Christmas trees for the holidays. It is such a cheerful time of year and it was the best decision to have a December/Christmas wedding.”
On the venue: “Neil and I had both attended the University of Arkansas. Neil was a national champion and 13-time all-American runner and I had received both my undergrad and a graduate degree from the U of A. It made perfect sense for us to get married on campus since we were both proud Razorbacks. Both of my parents had also attended the U of A and met on campus.”
On the reception: “I wanted everyone to have a lot of fun at our reception. I really only cared about everyone having a good time. We played Christmas music during cocktail hour and dinner, which really put everyone in a cheerful mood. After dinner, we moved to the dancing room where we had lights and glow sticks for everyone to wear.”
