Staff Wedding Picks: The Worst Wedding Gifts Ever

Last week, you saw our staff’s answers to what their best wedding gifts were. This week, the ladies are telling all on the worst gifts they received for their weddings. To save some embarassment for the gift givers, we asked them not to reveal who gave them such, um, lovely presents. Here’s what they had to say…

Lindsay Irvin, Editor, Arkansas Bride“Honesty, I can’t think of ANYTHING! I even liked the stuff I got that wasn’t on our registry, including a tropical colored, glass-blown plate with kissing fish and our names and wedding date on it. While it isn’t our style and there is nowhere to put it, it’s cute and was handmade just for us. It’s something sentimental from our relatives who live in the Virgin Islands.”

Michelle Foshee, Account Executive, Arkansas Bride – “Wood candlesticks.”

Brandy Hubener, Account Executive, Arkansas Bride – “A pewter bunny platter.”

Betsy Tilley, Senior Account Executive, Arkansas Bride – “Candlesticks with garage sale price tags still on them.”

Deborah Edwards, Account Executive, Little Rock Family – “Crystal olive boat/tray…yikes!”

Kate Knable, Assistant Editor, Arkansas Business – “A pizza pan with some pizza sauce still encrusting its corners. Lovely!”

Luci Deere, Account Executive, Soirée – “Gently used ash tray.”

Leigh Walker, Account Executive, Soirée – “A ‘puppy’ doorstopper … weird.”

Amanda Hoelzeman, Managing Editor, Soirée – “The coffee pot that we did not register for. We received the cheaper version in the wrong color. Who does that?!”

Taylor Bowers, Marketing Coordinator, Arkansas Business Publishing Group – “A weird coffee pot that had been purchased long before our wedding. When I went return it (because we already had one) I was told it was a really old model that they hadn’t sold in years, even though it had never been opened. And to this day, we have no idea who gave it to us! It was also the only gift with no card or tag!”

Stay tuned – we still have five more picks from the lovely married staffers of Arkansas Business Publishing Group!
