I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve been looking forward to creating my wedding registry! I plan on waiting until some time in August to register so that everything I want is still in stock when my family and friends go to pick out our gifts. Besides the standard small kitchen appliances and utensils, bath towels and linens, I want to know what I should put on my registry I haven’t already thought of!
When researching what to register for, I found a few things that I thought were great ideas:
- Cleaning supplies (mops, small vacuum, etc.)
- Items to help keep you organized (storage bins, etc.)
- Seasonal/holiday items (if you’re like me and love to decorate for the seasons)
- And finally, the FUN stuff — DVD/Blu-ray player, outdoor gear, grilling supplies and the list goes on!
I also found a few tips on registering that I felt were extremely helpful.
- Stay true to yourself. You don’t have to follow the traditional registry. I don’t plan on registering for fine china; I would much rather receive my grandmother’s set.
- Make a list of what the two of you already HAVE before registering for things you don’t need!
- Remember most places have registry completion, where the store will take a percentage off of the things that were on your registry but weren’t purchased.
- Register for more gifts than you have guests (they like lots of options).
- Plan for late shoppers.
- Take your time…and register together so you both can get the things you want!
- Always, always, ALWAYS write thank-you notes!
For brides who’ve registered already, what are some things that I should register for that you didn’t think of until later?
