Bridal Beauty: Avoid these Wedding Makeup Don’ts

We asked Cassie Orr, the owner and makeup artist of SassyCass Makeup in Northwest Arkansas, to share some her bridal beauty “don’ts” with us to help you avoid any “what was she thinking” whispers on your wedding day. Here’s our mini Q&A with Cassie:

What shouldn’t a bride do as it relates to makeup on their wedding day? A bride should NEVER try to do a completely new look on their wedding day. For instance, I once had a bride who doesn’t wear much makeup on a daily basis ask for smokey eyes for her wedding day. At her consult I suggested to her that this wouldn’t be the look for her but I tried it out anyways and she hated it! We went with a more natural look that worked perfectly for her. Instead of trying something totally new, aim to enhance your regular routine.

  • If you don’t usually wear eye shadow, on your wedding day make your eyes pop with a nude matte palette.
  • If you don’t wear lipstick, go for sheer pink colors that will make your natural lip color flawless!
  • And if eyeliner is not in your daily routine, try to smudge a darker eyeshadow with an angle brush along your eyelash line instead of opting for a harsher liquid liner.

Is there such a thing as too much makeup on your wedding day? There is absolutely such a thing as too much makeup on your wedding day. Your future husband fell in love with you as you are. You don’t want to walk down the isle and introduce him to a whole new you! Enhancing your daily makeup routine just a little is the way to go. You don’t want to look at your wedding photos and not even recognize yourself. Stay honest to what you look like and don’t try to do too much on the biggest day of your life!
