Real Wedding in Arkansas: Katherine ‘Kacky’ Stout &J.R. Fuller Jr. in Hot Springs

Garvan Woodland Gardens,
Hot Springs

The Best of Both Worlds
Because Kacky and J.R. love the outdoors, they imagined an outdoor fall wedding. But after their engagement, Kacky’s recollection of a radio advertisement for a wedding chapel in the midst of the wooded Hot Springs countryside compelled her to book the venue within 12 hours of setting the date. The popular chapel was worth the fast decision, because it provided the best of both worlds — the outdoor atmosphere, the beautiful fall foliage through the wood-framed glass windows of the chapel and the comfort of the indoors to accommodate their wedding party and guests. No decorations were added to the chapel. Kacky believed that adding too many flowers would take away from the ambience that nature provided. Kacky said when friends see her wedding photographs and ask who decorated her wedding she tells them, “God did.”

‘Nice Boots’
Kacky wore her favorite shoes for her wedding day — a pair of cowboy boots she has had since age 17. The boots had special significance to Kacky and her groom, for she was wearing them when they first met. The boots came to serve as a bit of a joke to the couple, because the first thing J.R. said to Kacky when they were introduced was “Nice boots.” The boots were a perfect choice for the big day, being the most comfortable shoes Kacky owned and a very special pair for a very special occasion.

Thanks for Your Time
It was very special to the bride and groom for their friends to be together. Kacky showed her appreciation to her bridesmaids by giving each of them a vintage-style pendant with the word “love” engraved on the back. J.R. showed his groomsmen how grateful he was for the time they had spent together and the memories they had shared by giving them engraved pocket watches personalized with their initials and the date of the wedding.

A Few Special Things

Instead of serving a traditional cake, the couple chose to offer guests a variety of pies at their reception. It was a good choice for a November wedding, and everyone’s favorite pie was present. Kacky chose apple pie and J.R. chose pumpkin pie for the centerpiece, but pecan, sweet potato and chocolate were not left out of the mix. Decorations at the reception were seasonally festive as well. The couple asked a friend to help them carve pumpkins with a romantic silhouette for lighting accents.

Family, Friends and Music!

At their reception at the Albert Pike Hotel in Little Rock, Kacky and J.R. danced for the first time as man and wife to Taj Mahal’s “Lovin’ in My Baby’s Eyes.” They created an iPod playlist for the wedding mix and danced the night away as family member Chris Klein, later known as “DJ Masterflash,” assisted with the music selection. Kacky and J.R. were delighted to be surrounded by their closest friends and family and enjoyed an afternoon and evening of love and laughter, making for a perfect reception of their new lives together.
